Role Purpose:
As a Process Controls & Automation Engineer, you will be a critical member of the engineering team, responsible for troubleshooting PLC and system faults, maintaining site drawings and schematics, and supporting process improvement initiatives. This position requires collaboration across departments to identify and implement production improvements while ensuring that control systems are safe, reliable, and compliant with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plant Performance:
Ensure plant and equipment are maintained to achieve budgeted uptime and speeds while meeting safety and regulatory requirements.
Serve as the on-site expert for Process Controls & Automation, creating PLC programs, updating software, and managing faults to maintain high standards of equipment functionality.
Manage or participate in individual and team projects aimed at production improvements and problem resolution. - Data & Documentation:
Maintain and document accurate system information within the CMMS, ensuring detailed fault history and resolution entries.
Develop software backups and implement changes in response to updates or compliance needs. - Cross-functional Support:
Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to troubleshoot and resolve breakdowns promptly.
Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) processes to resolve issues impacting plant performance, ensuring equipment reliability and efficiency.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- In-depth knowledge of PLC programming and diagnostics
- Proficiency with electrical systems, including COMPEX 1-4 for hazardous area compliance.
- Experience with IEC standards and exposure to pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing setting, with an emphasis on maintenance and process improvement would be advantageous.
