HSE Recruitment seeks a Construction Site Safety Manager for a major infrastructure programme in Somerset.

Based in Bridgewater, this full-time position pays £60,000 to £78,000 per annum.

You will lead health, safety, and environmental performance, protecting all personnel and the environment.

Responsibilities include driving a positive safety culture, managing risk assessments, approving RAMS, overseeing contractor compliance, conducting site inspections, and investigating incidents.

You will ensure adherence to CDM regulations and ISO standards.

The role requires a local resident or someone prepared to relocate.

HSE Recruitment are working on one of the biggest construction projects in the South West in recent years.

As such we are seeking a competent Construction Site Safety Manager to lead health, safety and environmental performance across the major construction and infrastructure programme, ensuring people, contractors and the environment are protected at all times.

The role will be based in Bridgewater and requires someone who lives in the area or who is going to relocate.

You’ll drive a safe working culture and manage risk assessment activity, approve RAMS, oversee contractor safety, carry out site inspections and investigate incidents and near misses.

You’ll ensure full compliance with CDM and wider HSE and environmental regulations, while providing assurance against ISO standards and internal frameworks.

As a visible leader on site, you’ll influence behaviours, promote a strong safety culture and report performance and insights to senior stakeholders.

Reporting to the Head of HSE, you’ll work closely with fellow HSE managers and eventually lead a team of advisors, ensuring a consistent and pragmatic approach across site and supporting wider group locations when needed.

What we are looking for

  • You’ll bring strong HSE management experience within large scale construction, ideally with a highly regulated sector such as chemical, oil& gas etc.
  • Hands‑on, visible leadership with proven people leadership capability, A solid knowledge of UK health, safety and environmental legislation, especially CDM regulations.
  • You’ll be a confident communicator, comfortable engaging contractors, senior leaders and regulators.
  • A NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) CSCS card
  • The salary and package includes ;
