Chef Manager – School & Hospitality Agency Work | Maidstone

This Chef Manager role with Berkeley Scott is based in Maidstone, offering temporary agency work across schools and catering businesses.

Starting in September, the position pays between £18.00 and £24.00 per hour, depending on experience and the end employer.

You will manage daily kitchen operations, lead a team, and ensure high standards of food service and hygiene across multiple sites.

The role demands strong leadership, organisational ability, and a background in hospitality management.

This contract provides flexibility, allowing you to work varied shifts while utilising your culinary and supervisory expertise in different settings around Maidstone.

Location: Maidstone and surrounding areas. Pay: £18.00–£24.00 per hour (depending on experience and the end employer). Start date: September. Job type: Temporary Agency Work.

Key responsibilities

  • Managing the day-to-day running of busy kitchens
  • Leading, motivating and supporting kitchen teams
  • Planning and delivering high-quality, nutritious meals
  • Maintaining excellent food hygiene, health and safety and allergen standards
  • Managing stock, ordering and minimising waste
  • Ensuring kitchens operate efficiently and meet client expectations

What we''re looking for

  • A minimum of 2 years'' experience as Chef Manager or in a similar kitchen management role
  • Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills
  • Experience working within schools or contract catering is desirable
  • Two satisfactory references
  • An Enhanced DBS certificate
  • The right to work in the UK
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle would be an advantage, but is not essential
