Based in Castleford, the Street Works Notice Handler will join an energy sector team on a nine-month maternity cover contract, working 37 hours each week.
The pattern runs Monday to Thursday 08:30-16:30, with an earlier finish of 16:00 on Fridays.
Duties centre on ensuring street works activity is planned, recorded and managed correctly under relevant legislation.
The postholder liaises with colleagues, service providers and local authorities so that notices and permits meet required timescales.

The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Street Works Notice Handler to join a busy team within the energy sector on a 9-month maternity cover contract.
You will help ensure that street works activity is properly planned, recorded and managed in line with relevant legislation.
Working closely with colleagues, service providers and local authorities, you will ensure notices and permits are processed within the required timescales.
This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong administrative or customer service background who is organised, confident using Microsoft Office and able to manage multiple deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA) and Traffic Management Act (TMA) requirements.
- Serve and maintain street works notices and permits within the required timescales.
- Manage the opening and closure of notices and permits.
- Record and maintain reinstatement measurements.
- Produce daily and weekly reports to support compliance.
- Liaise with Local Authorities, Service Providers and internal colleagues.
- Deal with enquiries relating to Section 74 overruns.
- Process payments, including fixed penalty notices and overrun charges.
- Provide overflow call handling for loss of supply calls during busy periods, major incidents and as part of a regular rota.
- Escalate site and safety issues, including 2-4 hour defects received from Local Authorities.
- Ensure relevant issues are communicated promptly to Service Providers and the management team.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure work is completed within agreed deadlines.

Essential Experience
- Previous experience in an administrative or customer service environment.
- Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience using Microsoft Office.
- Ability to manage your own workload and work to deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- GCSE English or equivalent.
Desirable Experience
- Knowledge or previous experience of NRSWA.
- Knowledge of Traffic Management Act (TMA) requirements.
- Previous experience within street works, highways, utilities or traffic management.
- Experience working with Local Authorities, Service Providers or utility contractors.
