Role Overview

The Mechanical & Electrical Technician will join the Camberley Sewage Pumping Stations team, performing inspections, maintenance, fault diagnosis, testing, installation, modification and repair of mechanical plant and electrical equipment.

This full‑time role offers up to £45,000 per annum depending on experience and requires working largely independently to keep sites operational.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out scheduled planned maintenance work on mechanical and electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures.
  • Investigate plant failures, diagnose complex faults and carry out repairs quickly to avoid interruptions.
  • Provide technical advice, apply up‑to‑date technical knowledge and give training or support to technical trainees when required.
  • Work on pumps, control gear, motors, starters, PLCs, VSDs, valves, flow, level and pressure measurement equipment, chemical handling and dosing equipment.
  • Participate in a standby rota following the relevant training.
  • Location & Working Hours

Base location: Camberley STW, Riverside Way, Watchmoor Park, Camberley, GU15 3YL. Working pattern: 38 hours Monday‑Friday 7:30am – 3:36pm, plus standby rota.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary up to £45,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
  • Standby rota payments and overtime opportunities can increase earnings by £8,000‑£10,000 per annum after essential company training.
  • Performance‑related pay linked to company performance measures and targets.
  • Defined‑contribution pension up to 12% employee contribution.
  • Annual leave: 24 days per year, increasing to 28 days with length of service (plus bank holidays).
  • Enhanced maternity leave: 26 weeks full pay and 13 weeks half pay.
  • Generous paternity leave: 4 weeks paid and optional 2 weeks unpaid.
  • PPE, tools, company van and fuel card are provided.
  • Health benefits including annual health MOTs, physiotherapy, counselling, cycle‑to‑work schemes, shopping vouchers and life assurance.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Previous experience in an electrical apprenticeship, ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ or C&G level3 electrical engineering.
  • Upskilled in mechanical NVQ2/3 (crucial).
  • Time‑served apprentice with significant experience in electrical systems in a multi‑skilled capacity.
  • Willingness to develop dual‑skilled status if only mechanical or electrical experience.
  • Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues.
  • Physical fitness and ability to work in confined spaces; completion of appropriate training required.
  • Valid driving licence.
