HGV Class 1 Driver
Location: Corby
Pay: £18.00 Days / £21 Sat / £22 Sun
The Role:
- Average shift length: 10-12 hours
- 7-day operation – however the client can accommodate drivers looking for Monday to Friday!
- AM shifts: typically start between 05:00-07:00
- Delivery area spans:
- North: Manchester/Wakefield/Scunthorpe/Preston – Usually night drivers
- West: South Wales
- South: London (Outer)
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver a mixture of products such as crisps, spices, glass jars and cleaning products
- Ensure the load is strapped securely, depending on the product
- Occasionally certain sites will require you to use a pump truck to unload
- Most sites involve no hand balling
- Safely operate and drive HGV 1 (C+E) vehicles to transport goods to designated locations
- Plan routes and schedules to ensure timely deliveries
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure road worthiness
- Adhere to all relevant traffic laws and regulations
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and fuel consumption
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and logistics team members
- Shifts are booked daily with shift confirmation times texted to you the day before
- No driving assessment on site, but paperwork to be complete before first shift
Requirements:
- Valid HGV 1 C+E licence
- Up-to-date Tacho Digi Card and an up-to-date DCPC Card
- Min 10 months HGV Class 1 C+E experience
- Strong understanding of road safety regulations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Up to 6 points on your licence, but no DD, TT, DR, CD, IN endorsements
