A Glass Operative is required in Bristol for a permanent, full‑time position paying £27,000 to £32,000 per annum, working 40 hours per week.

This role involves operating glass processing machinery, cutting and preparing glass to precise specifications, and verifying products meet quality standards prior to dispatch.

The position sits within a production team at a specialist glass manufacturer.

  • Key Duties
  • Operate various glass cutting and processing machinery.
  • Set up and adjust glass feeding, flow, and forming equipment.
  • Cut glass and mirrors to specified sizes and shapes using measuring and cutting tools.
  • Read patterns, drawings, and specifications to accurately mark and prepare glass.
  • Inspect glass and identify defects to achieve the most effective cuts.
  • Break away excess glass using hand tools and specialist equipment.
  • Smooth, polish, and finish glass edges using sanding and polishing machinery.
  • Operate furnaces to produce toughened glass products.
  • Sandblast glass surfaces in line with production requirements.
  • Load and unload stillages for storage and dispatch.
  • Monitor stock levels and record batch numbers and production information.
  • Complete quality inspections and maintain production standards.
  • Adhere to all health and safety procedures and company policies.
  • Support the wider production team as required.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience working within the glass industry.
  • Good understanding of glass production techniques and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to read instructions, drawings, and technical information.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently to production targets.
  • Positive attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and a proactive approach to work.
  • Strong awareness of health and safety, particularly regarding manual handling.
  • Ability to identify problems and contribute to effective solutions.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification advantageous but not essential.
  • Previous experience operating CNC machinery advantageous but not essential.
  • Relevant manufacturing or production qualifications desirable.
  • Working Hours

Full‑time permanent position. 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Overtime may be available depending on production requirements.
