The role of Teaching Assistant in Bournemouth involves supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs within a primary school.
This full‑time position pays £95–£105 daily and requires patience, resilience and enthusiasm to help young learners thrive.
Working closely with pupils needing additional emotional and behavioural support, you will deliver tailored assistance both in class and through targeted interventions.
Your role will create a safe, nurturing and engaging learning environment that enables pupils to develop confidence, resilience and positive relationships.
Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
- Build positive, trusting relationships that promote emotional wellbeing.
- Support pupils in managing behaviour through positive behaviour strategies.
- Work alongside teachers, SEND staff and external professionals to deliver personalised support.
- Encourage pupil engagement, independence and participation in learning.
- Assist with implementing individual support plans and behaviour strategies.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, autism, ADHD or challenging behaviour.
- A calm, patient and resilient approach.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Ability to remain positive and adaptable in a dynamic school environment.
- A genuine passion for supporting children to achieve their potential.
- Relevant qualifications are welcomed but not essential; experience and the right attitude are equally valued.
