£74.68 an hour Umbrella Inside IR35
12 Month Contract initially. This is a great opportunity to work within one of the UK's leading Defence organisations based in Christchurch. This exciting systems & software programme covers many disciplines including design, development, installation, implementation, integration, acceptance, training and logistics support - it is run solely from our Christchurch site for delivery to our customer at various MoD locations.
The candidate must hold a minimum of SC clearance without caveats (sole UK National) and an ability to attain DV clearance in due course. The successful candidate will be required to perform tasks suitable to the internal level of this role.
Primary Responsibilities- Systems development lifecycle from design through to test.
- Development processes (e.g. requirements, design, specification, implementation, acceptance testing) and development tools.
- Design and implementation of database tables.
- Implementation of database packages using Structured Query Language (SQL).
- Database design and modelling.
- Performance monitoring and enhancement of an Oracle database.
- Database administration.
- Monitoring the Oracle website for updates and engaging with Oracle to request patches.
- Horizon scanning for vulnerabilities.
- Configuring Windows, Linux, RHEL operating systems.
- Creating bespoke applications and automated deployment using PowerShell.
- Proven knowledge of the systems development lifecycle.
- Proven knowledge of development processes (e.g. requirements, design, specification, implementation, acceptance testing) and development tools.
- Proven knowledge of risk management.
- Team working culture.
- Innovation and problem‑solving skills, with a holistic view to implementation.
- Interpersonal and communication skills; confidence to liaise with customer and user representatives to discuss systems technical issues.
