Manpower UK seeks a Commis Chef or Chef De Partie for an established restaurant in Bicester, Oxfordshire.

This permanent, full-time position requires flexibility to work five days out of seven, including evenings and weekends.

The salary ranges from £26,000 to £34,000 per annum, plus tips, dependent on experience.

This role is a full time role, working 5/7 days, including weekends and evenings, so flexibility is needed.

Job Overview

The Chef is responsible for running a specific section of the kitchen, ensuring the preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes in line with company standards.

This role plays a key part in maintaining consistency, whilst contributing to the overall success of the kitchen operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of a designated section of the kitchen (e. g., grill, sauce, pastry), ensuring smooth service and consistent food quality.
  • Prepare, cook, and present dishes according to established recipes and standards.
  • Maintain high levels of cleanliness, organisation, and food safety within your section.
  • Assist the Sous Chef and Head Chef in menu preparation, development, and daily kitchen operations.
  • Monitor portion control and minimise food waste to support cost management.
  • Ensure all food is stored, handled, and prepared in compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Support stock control, including ordering, rotation, and inventory checks.
  • Work efficiently during busy service periods, maintaining attention to detail under pressure.
  • Step up to support other sections or senior chefs when required.
  • Key Skills and Experience
  • Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or strong Commis Chef ready to step up.
  • Solid knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
  • Ability to manage a section independently during service.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Passion for food, quality, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications (Desirable)

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Professional Cookery (or equivalent).
  • Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above).
