As HSE Compliance Officer for a Nottingham-based recycling business, you will oversee safety standards across two local sites.

Reporting directly to a Director, this permanent role offers genuine autonomy to enhance processes and compliance frameworks within a flat organisational structure.

This hands‑on position demands a proactive, pragmatic approach to deliver cost‑effective solutions for diverse risks such as working at height, machinery, large cranes, workplace transport, contractor control, and confined spaces.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure HSE compliance across both sites.
  • Develop and improve safety processes and compliance frameworks.
  • Identify and manage risks, including working at height, machinery, large crane use, lorries, workplace transport, contractor control and confined spaces.
  • Build trusted relationships with staff and contractors, providing practical, cost‑effective HSE solutions.
  • Maintain accurate HSE records and reports.

Qualifications and Experience

  • NEBOSH certificate (or equivalent) is essential.
  • Proven experience within waste and recycling, manufacturing or production environments with similar risk profiles.
  • Knowledge of WAMITAB and EA permitting desirable.
  • Hands‑on, proactive, pragmatic and dynamic approach with the ability to get stuck in.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build trusted relationships.
  • Working Hours and Remuneration
  • Monday‑Friday, 8am – 4pm.
  • Salary: £45,000 – £60,000 per annum (dependent on experience).
