As HSE Compliance Officer for a Nottingham-based recycling business, you will oversee safety standards across two local sites.
Reporting directly to a Director, this permanent role offers genuine autonomy to enhance processes and compliance frameworks within a flat organisational structure.
This hands‑on position demands a proactive, pragmatic approach to deliver cost‑effective solutions for diverse risks such as working at height, machinery, large cranes, workplace transport, contractor control, and confined spaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure HSE compliance across both sites.
- Develop and improve safety processes and compliance frameworks.
- Identify and manage risks, including working at height, machinery, large crane use, lorries, workplace transport, contractor control and confined spaces.
- Build trusted relationships with staff and contractors, providing practical, cost‑effective HSE solutions.
- Maintain accurate HSE records and reports.
Qualifications and Experience
- NEBOSH certificate (or equivalent) is essential.
- Proven experience within waste and recycling, manufacturing or production environments with similar risk profiles.
- Knowledge of WAMITAB and EA permitting desirable.
- Hands‑on, proactive, pragmatic and dynamic approach with the ability to get stuck in.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build trusted relationships.
- Working Hours and Remuneration
- Monday‑Friday, 8am – 4pm.
- Salary: £45,000 – £60,000 per annum (dependent on experience).
