About the Role

As an HGV Driver based in Basingstoke, you will represent Thames Water on the road, delivering first‑class customer service.

You will operate a fleet of potable water tankers for reactive and planned work.

Your duties include taking water samples before loading and discharging them into hydrants or reservoirs, following strict processes and procedures.

You must drive both HGV 1 and HGV 2 vehicles with manual and automatic gearboxes, plus various support vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive HGV Class 1 vehicles (both manual and automatic).
  • Take water samples and discharge water into hydrants or reservoirs.
  • Follow all company processes, procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Operate support vehicles such as welfare vans as required.
  • Act as an ambassador for Thames Water, providing first‑class customer service.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Class 1 HGV driver.
  • Valid Class 1 licence with no more than six penalty points and no D or I convictions.
  • Full CPC and valid Driver Tachograph card.
  • Knowledge of the Transport Law and Road Traffic Act.
  • Working knowledge of Driver’s Hours rules and Working Time regulations.
  • Schedule & Compensation
  • Shift pattern: 38.5 hrs per week – 4 on, 4 off (days & nights). Salary £42,435 per annum.
  • Alternate shift pattern: 38.5 hrs per week – 4 on, 4 off (Monday to Sunday day shifts). Salary £37,337 per annum.
