As an Automotive Vehicle Technician / LCV Technician based in Kidlington, you will join a permanent team servicing a fleet of Mercedes-Benz Sprinters, Vitos, and Volkswagen Transporters. Your role involves performing inspections, servicing, and repairs to DVSA standards, diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and CAN‑bus faults with manufacturer tools, and preparing vehicles for MOT testing. You will also conduct road tests, investigate recurring issues, and implement lasting solutions. You will work within a dedicated mechanical maintenance team, ensuring vehicle reliability across the UK and Europe.
What you’ll be doing:
- Servicing, inspecting, and repairing vehicles to high standards, following company and DVSA guidelines
- Diagnosing complex mechanical, electrical, and CAN‑bus faults using manufacturer‑level diagnostic tools
- Preparing vehicles for MOT testing and conducting road tests to verify repairs
- Investigating recurring issues and implementing long‑term solutions
- Maintaining accurate workshop records and managing parts and repairs efficiently
- Supporting less experienced team members and contributing to workshop procedures
- Attending vehicle breakdowns and providing technical support when needed
- Ensuring a safe, clean, and organised workshop environment
What you’ll bring:
- Level 3 NVQ (or equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
- Extensive experience working on light commercial vehicles, especially Mercedes‑Benz Sprinter or similar
- Strong diagnostic skills across mechanical and electrical systems
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and uphold high standards
Highly desirable skills include:
- Master Technician accreditation from Mercedes‑Benz, Volkswagen, or similar
- IRTEC qualification
- MOT Tester certification (Class 4 and/or 7)
