Job Description
PCB Design Engineer
Mainly remote with ad hoc visits to Portsmouth
69.65 an hour Umbrella Inside IR35
6 Month Contract
This is a great opportunity to work within one of the UK's leading Defence organisations based In Portsmouth but mainly remote. Site visits as and when required.
 The Printed Circuit Board Designer will:-
 Be part of a small team generating approximately 30 PCB designs per year.
 Have detailed knowledge and experience of tools and techniques required to generate large, complex, multi-substrate PCB designs.
 Undertake PCB design activities from initial concepts through to generation of manufacturing data packs.
 Help maintain toolsets and supporting libraries/databases. 
 Core Duties 
 Typical duties include (but are not limited to): (suggested 5-10 bullets/statements, indicative of the role at this level)
 Apply knowledge, technical skills and general engineering experience to generate PCB designs. 
 Interpretation, generation, and management of schematic diagrams.
 Collaborate closely with the mechanical and electronic design teams.
 Collaborate closely with the manufacturing team ensuring Design for Manufacture and Design for Test considerations are embodied.
 Generation of manufacturing data packs
 Support Design and Peer Reviews
 Undertake component library management.
 Modifications and maintenance of legacy designs.
 Knowledge: 
 Proficient experience of Cadence Allegro toolset (essential)
 PCB design techniques for large, complex, multi-layer, multi-substrate, PCBs.
 Designing for controlled impedance, high speed digital, RF, mixed signal, high current, and large FPGA technologies.
 Experience of blind, buried, and filled via techniques.
 Experience of flexible PCB and interconnecting assemblies.
Skills: 
 Ability to work with complex mechanical profiles to accommodate enclosure, structural, thermal, and screening requirements.
 Ability to work to ISO9001 and IPC-610 standards.
 Must understand detailed technical instructions and be able to communicate complex technical information to others.
Qualifications: 
 HND or above in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent knowledge and experience.
