About the Role

As a Cyber Security Engineer, you will work closely with both internal stakeholders and customer communities to identify, assess, and reduce cyber security risks across a large-scale defence environment. • Identify and implement proportionate security controls that deliver effective risk reduction
  • Produce high-quality technical security documentation and assurance artefacts
  • Support security investigations, meetings, and occasional customer site visits
  • Conduct security risk assessments and support accreditation activities within the UK defence domain
  • Ensure compliance with frameworks such as the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) and NIST Cyber Security Framework (CSF)
  • Plan, coordinate, or participate in CHECK/penetration testing activities
  • Maintain awareness of emerging cyber security threats, trends, and best practices

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience working with MoD security policy, including JSP440
  • Strong knowledge of NCSC guidance and UK defence security standards
  • Experience supporting MoD Secure by Design (SbD) projects
  • Practical experience in security risk assessment and risk treatment methodologies
  • Understanding of security control baselines and assurance processes
  • Experience applying security architecture principles across integration or enterprise-scale projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear technical documentation

About the Team

The Cyber Security Team works alongside a 45-strong engineering and development team delivering support to a fully integrated command and control system for the UK Ministry of Defence. The wider programme covers:

  • Systems and software design
  • Development and integration
  • Installation and implementation
  • Acceptance and assurance
  • Training and logistics support

All programme activities are managed from Dorset, supporting delivery to multiple MoD customer locations across the UK.

Why Join Us?

  • Work on nationally important defence programmes
  • Join a collaborative and highly skilled engineering environment

  • Engage with cutting-edge cyber security technologies and frameworks
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development within the defence sector
