Role Description As an Assistant Code Coach, you will support the delivery of structured computing and coding sessions for children in primary schools and club settings.

In this part-time, on-site role based in Ashby-De-La-Zouch, you will help prepare teaching materials and equipment, assist with demonstrations, and guide learners through simple coding tasks, games, and digital projects.

You will encourage children’s creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork, while maintaining a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.

Day-to-day responsibilities include helping manage classroom behavior, offering one-to-one support where needed, and providing feedback on learners’ progress to the Lead Coach or Coordinator.

You will also follow safeguarding procedures and school policies, and contribute ideas to improve activities and learner engagement.

Requirements

  • Ability to support basic computing and coding activities, using simple programming tools or educational software suitable for primary-aged children.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain concepts clearly and build rapport with children, school staff, and families.
  • Demonstrated patience, empathy, and classroom-support skills, including helping to manage groups, encourage participation, and respond to different learning needs.
  • Organizational skills for preparing resources, setting up equipment, and following structured lesson plans or club session outlines.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child wellbeing, including willingness to obtain and maintain an enhanced DBS check and follow all relevant policies.
  • Interest in education, technology, and inspiring young people to develop digital confidence and creativity; prior experience working with children in schools or clubs is beneficial.
  • Reliable availability for part-time, on-site work in Ashby-De-La-Zouch, with flexibility to support sessions during school hours and after-school or holiday clubs.
  • Desirable: qualifications or training in education, computing, or related fields, and familiarity with the UK primary curriculum or enrichment programmes.
