Main purpose of the role
This role is responsible for all our European debtor ledgers and ensuring that customer credit limits are controlled.
- Key duties and responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)
- Ensure customers pay within agreed payment terms; contacting customers by phone and email
- Obtain remittance advices to support customer receipts
- Investigate and resolve customer deductions
- Send copies of invoices or statements as requested by customer
- Forecast customer receipts for cash flow
- Work with other departments to ensure swift resolution of customer queries
- Create and maintain positive working relationships with each customer
- Check and release orders for customers that have reached their credit limit
- Ensure appropriate credit limits set for each customer
- Monitor the bank to release cash in advance orders
- Assist with the credit insurance annual renewal process
- Generate reports and analysis to assist with compliance of the company credit insurance policy
- Generate monthly reports and analysis to show the status of overdue debt and collections
- Assist with annual audits
- Identify improvements to the accounts receivable process

- Key performance indicators
- Ensuring a customer’s aged debt does not exceed 30+ days overdue and the debtor ledger does not have a balance of more than 10% past due date at any given time.
- Managing credit risk and ensuring customers do not exceed their limits.
- Projecting cash in for the coming 2-month period, forecasting on a weekly basis with 15% accuracy.
Education and experience
- Previous experience working within a Finance team, preferably Credit Control
- Competent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including the use of functions VLOOKUP and pivot table
- Fluency in one or more European languages is preferred.
- Strong organisational skills and time management
- Excellent communication style; able to build positive relationships at all levels
- Strong sense of urgency about solving problems and getting work done.
