A growing Design & Build fit-out contractor is seeking an experienced HSE Manager to take ownership of all Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance across multiple live sites and office operations. This is a key leadership role within the business, responsible for maintaining and developing a strong safety culture while managing ISO 45001 accreditation, external audits, and site compliance across fast-paced commercial fit-out projects. The role will suit an individual from a construction, fit-out, or interiors Design & Build background who is comfortable operating both strategically and hands-on within live project environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Full ownership and management of ISO 45001 accreditation, including ongoing compliance, audits, documentation, and continual improvement.
- Acting as the main point of contact for external auditors, certification bodies, and regulatory inspections.
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining company-wide Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Conducting regular site inspections and audits across multiple live fit-out projects throughout London and the surrounding areas.
- Ensuring full compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation, CDM Regulations, and industry best practice.
- Supporting project teams with Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and safe systems of work.
- Leading incident investigations, reporting, and corrective/preventative actions.
- Delivering Health & Safety training, inductions, and toolbox talks across project sites.
- Driving a proactive safety culture amongst site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Working closely with Project Managers, Commercial Teams, and Directors to embed compliance throughout project delivery.
- Maintaining accurate reporting dashboards and HSE performance metrics.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience as an HSE Manager or Senior Health & Safety Advisor.
- Strong background within construction, commercial fit-out, or Design & Build interiors.
- Hands-on experience managing ISO 45001 certification (essential).
- Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations and UK construction Health & Safety legislation.
- Experience liaising with external auditors and certification bodies.
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent qualification) preferred.
- Tech IOSH, Grad IOSH, or Chartered IOSH status (or working towards).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence both site teams and senior management.
- Comfortable working within a fast-paced, multi-site project environment.
- Strong organisational skills with a high level of attention to detail and compliance documentation.
