This is an opportunity to join a collaborative and experienced design team, working on a variety of commercial workplace projects from initial concept through to completion.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Junior Creative Designer to join our client's London design team. This position would suit a well-rounded designer who is creative, proactive and eager to learn, with the confidence to work independently while contributing positively to a wider team. Ideally, you will have some experience within a commercial workplace design or design and build (D&B) environment. However, this is not essential, and applications from designers with relevant transferable experience will also be considered. More importantly, we are looking for someone with a positive attitude, a strong work ethic and a genuine passion for design.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced designers, gaining valuable exposure to all stages of the design process while developing their creative and technical capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of creative design concepts for commercial workplace and office fit-out projects.
  • Support senior designers throughout the design process, from initial concept and pitch presentations through to project delivery.
  • Produce mood boards, concept presentations, material palettes and design proposals.
  • Assist with space planning, furniture layouts and the development of workplace environments.
  • Prepare drawings, visual presentations and supporting design documentation.
  • Research materials, finishes, furniture and emerging workplace design trends.
  • Liaise with internal design teams, project managers and other stakeholders to ensure design intent is maintained.
  • Attend design meetings, contribute ideas and actively participate in project discussions.
  • Manage individual responsibilities and deadlines while supporting the wider design team.
  • Continuously develop creative, technical and industry knowledge.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • A degree or relevant qualification in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or a related design discipline.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating creativity, design thinking and an understanding of interior spaces.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • The ability to work independently, take initiative and manage assigned tasks.
  • A proactive, organised and enthusiastic approach to work.
  • Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
  • A collaborative attitude and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • A genuine interest in commercial interiors, workplace design and the wider design industry.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience within a commercial workplace design studio or design and build environment.
  • Experience supporting concept design, presentations and workplace fit-out projects.
  • Proficiency in relevant design software such as AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp or similar.
  • An understanding of materials, finishes, furniture and commercial interior design processes.
  • Experience working on projects from concept through to delivery.

Personal Attributes

We are particularly interested in individuals who demonstrate:

  • Creativity: A passion for producing thoughtful, engaging and innovative design solutions.
  • Independence: Confidence in taking ownership of tasks and working proactively.
  • Enthusiasm: A positive attitude and genuine desire to develop professionally.
  • Teamwork: The ability to collaborate, communicate and support colleagues.
  • Adaptability: A flexible approach and willingness to take on new challenges.
  • Work Ethic: Reliability, commitment and pride in producing high-quality work.

Working Environment

Our client operates a five-day-a-week office policy, providing designers with the opportunity to collaborate closely with colleagues and benefit from a supportive, studio-based environment. Working from home may be accommodated where agreed in advance. The company offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience, work on interesting commercial projects and develop professionally within an established design and build business.

Salary & Benefits

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Benefits: Additional company benefits package.

Career Development

This position offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Junior Creative Designer to develop into a more experienced, well-rounded workplace designer.
