Product Engineering at JLR is centred on innovation and creativity. From advanced driver assistance systems to developing the future of electric propulsion, the opportunities to create exceptional experiences for the future of motoring are wide‑ranging. You’ll work alongside industry experts to drive product strategy, manage programs, analyse performance, and lead transformation initiatives.
This is a chance to play a meaningful role in the development of advanced assisted and automated driving technologies, working at the point where software, systems and real‑world behaviour meet. You’ll be part of a collaborative engineering environment where curiosity, rigour and thoughtful problem‑solving are genuinely valued.
Based within Digital Platform, in the Assisted & Automated Driving Domain, you’ll contribute to the design, delivery and ongoing evolution of XIL test environments. These range from focused single‑ECU set‑ups to highly complex multi‑ECU systems, using both signal‑based and scenario‑based testing to reflect real driving challenges with accuracy and intent.
The role centres on building robust, real‑time XIL automation solutions that support automated testing of current and future AAD features across JLR platforms. You’ll help deliver end‑to‑end automation frameworks and CI/CD pipelines, working to recognised standards such as ASAM OpenX and ISO 26262, and ensuring quality, consistency and confidence in everything that reaches the road.
WHAT TO EXPECT- Gather requirements and design, build and deliver complex automation solutions for XIL testing and simulation across the group

- Collaborate with the Test Platform team to ensure solutions are scalable, robust and aligned with wider automation standards and guidelines
- Develop and maintain automation frameworks using Git and CI/CD pipelines
- Provide 2nd and 3rd line support for complex XIL automation issues, acting as a technical escalation point
- Work with XIL suppliers to ensure delivered solutions align with industry best practice and recognised standards
- Offer technical leadership, sharing improvements and updates across the AAD V&V community and supporting the development of fellow engineers
- Demonstrated strong technical capability in Python, with extensive experience building maintainable, data‑driven automation solutions (non‑UI) through REST/COM API
- A solid understanding of the Assisted & Automated Driving (AAD) operational design domain and its testing challenges
- Proven experience delivering scenario generation software using tools such as dSPACE ModelDesk, IPG CarMaker, MATLAB RoadRunner or Drive Sim
- A strong background in building test automation solutions using a keyword‑based testing approach
- Hands‑on experience of the full software development lifecycle, including version control with Git and CI/CD pipelines
- Comfortable working in a Linux environment as part of day‑to‑day development and testing activities
- Excellent root cause analysis skills, with the ability to diagnose complex issues and drive effective, long‑term solutions
- Discounted car purchase (open to family members, too)
- A 52 week maternity leave policy and a 4 week paternity leave policy. Other parental leave policies are available
- A competitive pension
- An employee learning scheme providing funding for education, training and other activities which support the development of personal skills and promote lifelong learning
