What to Expect
- Lead the full calibration and testing process for Active Safety functions, from requirements analysis and system reviews to developing and optimising calibrations across multiple vehicle programmes.
- Create and maintain test plans, calibration strategies and validation methods for features such as Lane Keeping Assist, Emergency Braking and Collision Warning, ensuring strong real-world scenario coverage and alignment with programme timings.
- Support software development and vehicle integration by updating calibrations for new sensors, ECUs, software releases and changes to chassis, braking, steering and propulsion systems.
- Conduct vehicle, rig and virtual testing, including preparing test vehicles, running dynamic scenarios, collecting logged data and signing off Active Safety performance using simulation and diagnostic tools.
- Carry out structured root-cause investigations using logged data, diagnostics and analysis scripts to identify issues, recommend countermeasures and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve them.
- Produce clear technical reports on progress, risks, calibration maturity and performance, ensuring alignment across engineering, programme and manufacturing teams.
What You'll Need
- Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and the V-Model, including requirements-driven development, structured verification activities and thorough validation of safety-critical functions.
- Solid knowledge of Active Safety systems and their operation, covering braking, steering, and camera/radar-based sensing technologies, along with the control strategies that enable these features to function reliably.
- Practical experience working with automotive networks, diagnostics, software integration or electronic systems, with the ability to navigate complex vehicle architectures and interfaces.
- Familiarity with key quality and robustness methodologies such as FMEA, P-Diagrams, noise factor analysis and wider data-driven problem-solving approaches used to ensure system reliability.
- Proven capability in investigating component-level and system-level issues using structured techniques such as 8D, fault-tree analysis or similar root-cause methodologies.
- Hands-on experience planning, preparing and executing vehicle tests on proving grounds or public roads, with an understanding of safe test practices and real-world scenario coverage.
- Full UK driving licence, enabling safe and legal operation of test vehicles during development and validation activities.
