The Role
Key Responsibilities- Define, manage and lead the delivery of JLR’s Product Safety strategy in conjunction with the Product Integrity Director, to ensure the integrity of JLR product design.
- Facilitate a robust cross company product safety working group at LL5 to LL3 cross functional levels to steer and guide the JLR engineering teams on safe product development, for example designs compliant with General Product Safety Regulations.
- Lead and coach the cross functional team of safety specialists to ensure pragmatic optimisation of product safety design.
- Work closely with cross function, operational and senior management teams to define JLR’s product safety strategy.
- Provide high level guidance on the resolution of key technical and strategic challenges relating to product safety.
- Manage and lead the strategic development and delivery systems required to ensure JLR continue to meet regulator expectations of the required technologies for the identification of potential Critical Concerns from cross business and onboard data sources.
- Steer and support the development of Proof-of-Concept technologies with support from key suppliers for new technologies with a Critical Concerns lens on emerging onboard and off board technologies.
- Embed the Product Liability mindset within systems development documentation to ensure factual and data supported product safety design decisions.

- Significant experience and knowledge in the field critical concerns, forensics and robust data analysis against a background of product safety.
- Experience of the global legal framework and safety regulations.
- Experience of litigation defence support.
- Significant knowledge of product engineering safety systems development (ISO 26262 etc), vehicle safety systems development with a proven track record of product launch and market delivery.
- Expert in utilising functional and real-world safety data for system residual risk evaluation and resolution and consensus of design direction.
- Electrical Electronics or Embedded Software related degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Previous experience of working with Universities and Research partners, legal teams, standards and industry regulators.
- Experience in people development and team management.
- Experience in strategy development and deployment.
