The Product Integrity team identifies all potential product safety issues within products in the field as well as providing support in the product design and development space to prevent/mitigate safety risks identified during product development phases.
This new role of Senior Specialist Product Integrity is needed to focus on new product development for new technologies such as ADAS and Electrified Powertrain, acting as a consultant/facilitator to bring together considerations of safety regulation, product liability litigation, and whole business risk management in the areas of Active, Passive, Functional Safety, and Real World safety. The aim is to provide guidance and direction to product engineering teams regarding industry standards and pragmatic system design to optimise product cost versus safety risk in relation to new feature creation.
The role will challenge the rigour and technical arguments within functional safety and real-world safety assumptions, using knowledge gained from leading the development of safety-critical systems, such as vehicle speed control design and powertrain control systems. This role is fundamental to the evolution of the assessment procedural framework to ensure JLR remains state of the art in product safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define, manage, and lead the delivery of JLR's Product Safety strategy in conjunction with the Product Integrity Director.
- Lead and coach the cross-functional team of safety specialists to ensure pragmatic optimisation of product safety design.
- Work closely with operational and senior management teams to define JLR's product safety strategy.
- Provide high-level guidance on the resolution of key technical and strategic challenges relating to product safety.
- Manage and lead the strategic development and delivery systems required to meet regulator expectations.
- Steer and support the development of Proof-of-Concept technologies with a Critical Concerns lens.
- Embed the Product Liability mindset within systems development documentation.
- Undertake any other work to support the Product Integrity Director in connection with product safety design as required.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Significant experience and knowledge in critical concerns, forensics, and robust data analysis against a background of product safety.
- Experience of the global legal framework and safety regulations.
- Experience of litigation defence support.
- Significant knowledge of product engineering safety systems development (ISO 26262 etc).
- Expert in utilising functional and real-world safety data for system residual risk evaluation.
- Electrical Electronics or Embedded Software related degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience of working with Universities and Research partners, legal teams, standards, and industry regulators.
- Experience in people development and team management.
- Experience in strategy development and deployment.
