WHAT TO EXPECT

Define and lead all Materiality activities for Commodity Strategy, collaborating with key stakeholders to develop a holistic approach that aligns with business objectives and enhances customer experience in line with the Reimagine strategy.

THE ROLE

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead the overall Commodity Strategy for all JLR brands, providing strategic and creative direction.
2. Establish connections between Design Research & Innovation and other enterprise functions, as well as external partners.
3. Develop strategies focusing on circular, sustainable, and responsible materials for vehicle interiors and exteriors, based on research into industry trends and future landscape shifts.
4. Manage Materiality activities for interior and exterior projects using an Agile approach, ensuring on-time delivery.
5. Partner with Materiality Design Senior Managers to deliver material innovations and strategies.
6. Define and deliver training programs through the Design Academy to nurture new talent in Materiality Design.
7. Recruit and build capabilities within the Materiality team.
8. Lead multiple strategic projects, balancing business priorities and innovation.
9. Set commodity strategy direction aligned with evolving product portfolios and brand needs.
10. Share best practices and provide technical guidance to the team.
11. Mentor and coach team members on research methods and project management.
12. Manage Interior and Exterior Commodity Design Managers to achieve strategic outcomes.

Internal: Vehicle Design, Brand Design, Materiality Design, Business Planning & Transformation.

External: Finance/Purchasing, Research/Advanced Engineering, Product Strategy, Universities, Suppliers, Strategic Partners, and the Materials Community.

WHAT YOU\’LL NEED

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

• Proven ability to establish and resource a new Commodity Strategy Materiality team.
• Strong networking skills within Creative and broader business units, with external representation experience.
• Experience leading collaborations with internal and external partners for interior and exterior commodities.
• Expertise in creating and implementing vehicle material strategies, including benchmarking and supplier collaboration.
• Ability to communicate strategies visually and verbally, both digitally and physically.
