In the Manufacturing team at JLR’s Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre (EPMC), you’ll help power iconic electric cars. The Cleanliness Analyst is responsible for monitoring and maintaining facility and process cleanliness to ensure compliance with industry standards, including VDA 19.2 and ISO 16232. The role involves conducting cleanliness inspections, supporting in‑house manufacturing studies, and assessing contamination risks across production environments. Key responsibilities include data collection, analysis, and reporting of cleanliness results, as well as contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. The Cleanliness Analyst will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to enhance processes, maintain compliance, and uphold high standards of product quality and operational excellence.

In this role, working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, you will support the resolution of cleanliness‑related issues to ensure consistent quality throughout the supply chain. The role requires strong problem‑solving skills to identify contamination root causes and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.

Here’s what to expect:

  • Be the subject matter expert for cleanliness specifications; VDA 19.1/VDA 19.2/ISO16232, ensuring that the EPMC is compliant with the EV Production Cleanliness Standard.
  • Operate a Scanning Electron Microscope to perform detailed data analysis of contamination, gathered from particle traps at EPMC.
  • Lead problem solving to reduce contamination occurrence during production, through use of problem‑solving tools.
  • Optimise propulsion cleanliness test/report/reaction strategy and perform detailed data analytics for routine cleanliness test data, including the management of ISO decay testing studies for new and existing parts.
  • Support with performing cleanliness testing and investigating suspected contamination failures where requested. This support may be for a variety of customers, including manufacturing, engineering and suppliers.
  • Operate and maintain FTIR equipment to manage a database of all known non‑metallic contaminants on site, which is to be used to help aid problem solving.

Along with your ambition to achieve the exceptional, there are several skills that you’ll need to have to help you succeed here, including:

  • Understanding of engine/EDU/battery assembly and machining processes.
  • Understanding & experience of technical cleanliness.
  • Understanding of Materials Science.
  • Problem solving techniques / root cause analysis including 8D or similar.
  • Computer literate - comfortable using Office 365 applications on a daily basis.
  • Degree qualified or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Experience with SEM/EDX & FTIR.
