In the Manufacturing team at JLR’s Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre (EPMC), you’ll help power iconic electric cars. You will be working alongside incredible technicians and leaders to drive our commitment to shape a future we truly believe in, together. Use your expertise, cutting‑edge technology, and problem‑solving skills to ensure efficient, sustainable and high‑quality production.
JLR is seeking an experienced Lead Manufacturing Engineer to join the Current Manufacturing Engineering (CME) team, supporting production stability and KPI improvement across ICE manufacturing while contributing to the transition toward electrified powertrains. The role involves leading the development and introduction of new and modified manufacturing processes and facilities for new model launches and model year changes across machining, ICE assembly and test, EDU, and battery manufacture and test, as well as providing day‑to‑day engineering support for the Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre.
WHAT TO EXPECT
In this role, you will work closely with Production teams, Product Development Engineers, Facility vendors and Tooling Suppliers to ensure that component and whole product designs meet world class quality and efficiency standards. Here’s what to expect:
- Lead and manage a team to plan, develop and implement new or modified manufacturing facilities from concept through to stable production.
- Drive process improvements, feasibility assessments, PFMEAs, control plans and process audits to ensure safe, high‑quality and efficient operations.
- Provide engineering leadership in resolving complex technical issues on product and equipment, escalating where required.
- Coordinate cross‑functional activities, including virtual builds, stakeholder reviews, facility handovers and program‑timing deliverables.
- Evaluate and develop manufacturing technologies and in‑house assembly systems while assessing make‑vs‑buy opportunities.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED

- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment performance and data analysis.
- Proven experience delivering process improvements, line balancing and productivity gains.
- Solid project management capability within a live production environment.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and assess process capability using tools such as Minitab.
- Experience managing multi‑skilled teams and resolving complex technical or facility issues.
