As a Safety Manager within Occupational Health & Safety, you will play a pivotal role in driving JLR’s Zero Harm ambition. You will support the development, deployment and continuous improvement of safety policies, processes and risk‑management systems across your assigned manufacturing locations, providing strategic guidance, technical expertise and hands‑on leadership to ensure safety standards are fully embedded and consistently applied.

Supporting the sites as a Safety Practitioner in a Leadership capacity, you will drive compliance with corporate requirements, regulatory obligations and ISO 45001. Working closely with site leadership, Trade Unions, safety representatives and cross‑functional teams, you will influence culture, strengthen governance and enable the business to proactively identify, manage and reduce risk.

  • Facilitate the creation and deployment of clear safety objectives that will support our Zero Harm ambition, aligned to risk profiles, performance data and strategic priorities.
  • Provide competent safety advice to senior leaders, constructively challenging to ensure safe and compliant operations.
  • Drive robust risk‑management activities, including incident reviews, risk assessments and assurance processes.
  • Influence and strengthen behavioural safety culture through team engagement, leader coaching and workforce involvement programmes.
  • Ensure full compliance with corporate policies, legal requirements and management‑system expectations, escalating risks where necessary.
  • Prepare and deliver high‑quality presentations, reports and updates for leadership and governance forums, building strong cross‑functional relationships to support aligned risk ownership.
  • Identify, champion and implement best‑practice safety initiatives, staying ahead of industry innovations and regulatory changes.

What You’ll Need

  • Proven experience in a Health & Safety management role, ideally within manufacturing or other high‑risk environments.
  • Strong stakeholder‑engagement and influencing skills, with credibility at all organisational levels and with external bodies.
  • Experience designing and deploying safety processes, competency frameworks and risk‑management improvements.
  • Advanced analytical and problem‑solving ability, able to interpret data, identify systemic issues and recommend effective interventions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to convey complex information clearly and negotiate effectively.
  • Full NEBOSH Diploma (Level 6) or equivalent, with strong digital literacy across safety systems, dashboards and reporting tools.
  • Chartered Member of IOSH or working towards.
  • Full UK driving licence.
