Applied Professional Engineering Programme Degree Apprenticeship

Our Level 6 Applied Professional Engineering Programme Degree Apprenticeship is aimed at those with a passion for learning and innovation. We’re reimagining the future of automotive, refining the quality of our combustion engines and expanding into electrification. As an Applied Professional Engineering Degree Apprentice, you will become a multi-disciplinary engineer, developing digital technology solutions for modern luxury vehicles that are renowned for their desirability and performance.

The Level 6 Applied Professional Engineering Degree apprenticeship programme takes four years to complete and adheres to Skills England Manufacturing Engineer (Degree) standard. As an apprentice, you will develop the Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours (KSBs) outlined in the apprenticeship standard. These will be assessed during your End Point Assessment (EPA), where you will demonstrate the competencies and skills you’ve gained throughout the programme.

With a blend of hands‑on experience and qualifications you will work on projects that are fundamental to our global success, providing the opportunity to influence the future of manufacturing.

WHAT TO EXPECT

During your apprenticeship, you’ll gain valuable hands‑on experience and career‑building skills while working at the forefront of the automotive industry. This exciting programme is designed to help you build practical skills, deepen your foundational knowledge, and develop essential business behaviours such as teamwork and problem‑solving. And you’ll be supported by a JLR early careers cohort leader, the university team, and your line manager every step of the way. You’ll achieve a BEng (Hons) in Applied Professional Engineering developed in conjunction with the University of Warwick.

This programme is delivered through a combination of online study, face‑to‑face lectures, independent learning each week. This gives you the chance to apply your learning from University of Warwick to projects in a real‑world environment. You’ll study a range of modules designed to build your essential knowledge, skills and behaviours, with regular process reviews along the way to ensure you’re getting the support you need from your tutors and line manager.

Years 3-4

In years 3 and 4 you will complete modules related to your chosen specialism – Manufacturing. In your final year, you’ll complete a work‑based project as part of your End Point Assessment (EPA). This is an opportunity for you to use the skills and experience you gained throughout your time on the programme and apply them directly to your role. And when you’ve successfully completed your EPA, you’ll achieve your Level 6 Apprenticeship and take on new responsibilities and make a meaningful impact within the business.

Throughout your apprenticeship you could be based within any of the following areas: Global Manufacturing Engineering (GME) or Procurement – Supplier Technical Assistance (STA). You will be asked to indicate your preference during the application process.

GME is composed of several integrated Technologies that work hand in hand to deliver whole vehicle manufacturing solutions; Stamping, Body, Paint, Trim, Propulsion, Dimensional Systems, Logistics & Construction. Our Global Manufacturing Engineering team operates on Future Vehicle & Propulsion Programmes across our global Manufacturing & Product Design locations.

Joining our team as a STA apprentice, you’ll support a portfolio of commodities and/or categories developing strategies, managing relationships, sourcing new products, problem solving, working with a wide range of suppliers to develop quality parts and processes, and supporting procurement's transformation as part of JLR's Reimagine strategy.

You could find yourself supporting any of the following areas: Exterior, Interior, Chassis, Software and Digital, Electrical Hardware, e‑Propulsion, Engines and Driveline, Aftermarket, Indirect, Raw Materials and Special Vehicles. You will be based in a combination of manufacturing, supplier, and office‑based placements which will help you improve your core problem solving and manufacturing skills.

Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) Paint - Castle Bromwich, Solihull, Fen End. SVO offers halo models, limited run collectors’ editions and high specification vehicles. Every car showcases the best of Jaguar Land Rover with stunning performance, unsurpassed luxury and cutting‑edge technology.

WHAT’S REQUIRED?

You’ll need to have achieved GCSE Maths and English Language at level 5 or higher plus three additional GCSEs at level 5 (C) or higher, to include one STEM subject. In addition, you will need to have achieved or be on track to achieve A-level Maths at grade B or higher and an additional A-level in Physics, Chemistry, Design & Technology or Engineering at grade C or higher.
