We are looking for a proven Lead Vehicle Software and Systems Integration Engineer (ADAS / Connected Vehicles) to join JLR at a pivotal time of transformation. This is an opportunity to be right at the centre of how next generation vehicles are brought to life, working on cutting‑edge software that underpins intelligent, connected and automated driving experiences. You’ll play a leading role in shaping how advanced features are delivered into the vehicle, contributing to products that define modern luxury and innovation.
Operating within the Assisted and Automated Driving domain, this role sits at the intersection of software, systems and real‑world vehicle behaviour. You’ll collaborate with global engineering teams and technology partners to integrate complex ADAS features at vehicle level, ensuring everything works seamlessly, safely and as intended in real‑driving conditions. It’s a hands‑on, technically rich environment where problem solving, integration expertise and a deep understanding of vehicle systems come to the fore.
This is a role for someone who enjoys seeing their work come to life, from software development and integration through to testing and validation on physical vehicles. You will be instrumental in ensuring that features are not only delivered, but delivered well, balancing quality, performance and customer experience.
WHAT TO EXPECT
As part of the team, you’ll be involved in a number of core activities that contribute to the success of the department, such as:
- Develop, integrate and maintain automotive software APIs and middleware to enable reliable data exchange between in‑vehicle and backend systems
- Lead and coordinate cross‑functional integration activities across hardware, software, validation, IT teams and external suppliers
- Diagnose and resolve complex integration issues using communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, FlexRay and Ethernet
- Support integration on automotive Linux platforms, including scripting, configuration and troubleshooting activities
- Ensure features and functions operate correctly at vehicle level through close collaboration with partner ECUs and validation teams
- Maintain compliance with functional safety, quality and engineering standards, including ISO 26262 and ASPICE, while driving continuous improvement in integration processes and tooling
- Deliver software integration milestones on time, drive defect resolution and closure, improve vehicle‑level feature validation success rates and ensure strong stakeholder satisfaction across engineering partners
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
The ideal candidate will have a strong mix of experience, recognised training, and capabilities such as:
- Strong experience in automotive software and system integration, with in‑depth knowledge of vehicle communication protocols including CAN, LIN, FlexRay and Ethernet
- Hands‑on expertise in debugging embedded systems using industry tools such as Trace32, GDB, CANoe, CANalyzer and CANape
- Proficient in C, C++, MATLAB Simulink, along with scripting languages such as Python and Bash to support integration and automation activities
- Solid understanding of Linux operating systems, including confident use of command‑line environments for development and troubleshooting
- Good understanding of the full software development lifecycle, alongside quality engineering standards and best practice
- Full valid driving licence required
- Proactive and self‑sufficient approach with strong ownership, excellent communication and influencing skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams, with a relevant degree, apprenticeship or equivalent industry experience preferred
