Senior Specialist Product Integrity in Coventry

The Product Integrity team identifies all potential product safety issues within products in the field as well as providing support in the product design and development space to prevent/mitigate safety risks identified during product development phases.

This role is needed to focus on new product development for new technologies such as ADAS and Electrified Powertrain, acting as a consultant/facilitator to bring together considerations of safety regulation, product liability litigation, and whole business risk management in the areas of Active, Passive, Functional Safety, and Real World safety.

The role will challenge the rigour and technical arguments within functional safety and real-world safety assumptions, using knowledge gained from leading the development of safety-critical systems, such as vehicle speed control design and powertrain control systems.

This role is critical to ensuring product safety at new vehicle launch, preventing product recall costs by ensuring robust safety design and acceptable levels of residual risk.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define, manage, and lead the delivery of JLR’s Product Safety strategy.
• Lead and coach the cross-functional team of safety specialists.
• Work closely with operational and senior management teams to define JLR’s product safety strategy.
• Provide high-level guidance on the resolution of key technical and strategic challenges relating to product safety.
• Manage and lead the strategic development and delivery systems required to meet regulator expectations.
• Steer and support the development of Proof-of-Concept technologies.
• Embed the Product Liability mindset within systems development documentation.
• Undertake any other work to support the Product Integrity Director in connection with product safety design.

What You’ll Need:

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• Significant experience in critical concerns, forensics, and robust data analysis.
• Experience of the global legal framework and safety regulations.
• Experience of litigation defence support.
• Significant knowledge of product engineering safety systems development.
• Expert in utilising functional and real-world safety data for system residual risk evaluation.
• Electrical Electronics or Embedded Software related degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• Previous experience of working with Universities and Research partners.
• Experience in people development and team management.
• Experience in strategy development and deployment.
