Location: Cambridge, UK – (Remote available within the UK with team onsite days in the Cambridge office approx. 4 times per year). This role is a Fixed Term Contract anticipated to end mid-late 2027.
Are you an experienced games industry concept artist who loves bringing worlds to life through bold ideas, imaginative visuals, and creative collaboration? As a Concept Artist on RuneScape: Dragonwilds, our new open-world survival crafting game developed in Unreal Engine 5, you will help define the visual language and artistic tone of the game. Working closely with the Lead Concept Artist and Art Director, you will translate creative briefs into compelling concept art, shaping everything from characters and creatures to environments, props, and weapons. You will be at the heart of visual development, inspiring the team through your work, contributing to art direction, and supporting the creation of efficient, production-ready workflows. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful visual impact on one of the most beloved universes in gaming.
What you will be doing:
- Work with the Lead Concept Artist and Art Director to visualise and develop the game art direction.
- Produce key art, illustrations, and design work that reinforce the visual identity of the project.
- Inspire the wider team through your artwork, collaboration, and understanding of the game's creative vision.
- Participate in reviews of internal and external artwork, providing constructive feedback to maintain artistic consistency and quality.
- Help refine and develop efficient concept art pipelines and workflows.
- Contribute to an open, creative, and collaborative studio environment.
What we are looking for:
- Strong drawing skills with a focus on quick idea generation and visual problem-solving.
- A varied concept art portfolio showcasing your skills across multiple different subjects, and with a focus on the gameplay experience of the player.
- A versatile skill set, able to produce a range of concept art across characters, creatures, environments, props, vehicles, and weapons.
- Proven ability to work across a variety of art styles.
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and a solid understanding of concept design workflows, development processes, and production pipelines.
- A genuine passion for games and visual storytelling.
