Do you have a sharp eye for detail, a genuine love of games, and a desire to start your career making sure millions of players get the best possible experience? As a Junior QA Analyst on the Old School RuneScape team, you’ll be embedded in a multi-discipline game development team, testing content and giving qualitative feedback on game mechanics, design, and balancing. Your work will have a direct impact on the quality of every update that reaches our players.
This is a role for someone early in their QA career who’s eager to learn, build their craft, and grow within a team that takes quality seriously. You’ll be supported as you develop your testing skills, with plenty of opportunity to take on more as your confidence grows.
What you’ll be doing:
- Learn and apply test processes and techniques, creating clear, concise test cases that cover a range of game functionality.
- Execute test cases and testing activities including playtests, reporting bugs, feedback, and risks in line with team standards.
- Investigate player-reported bugs, analysing findings and feeding them back to the team.
- Analyse game content and provide objective, constructive feedback on mechanics, design, and balancing.
- Identify and escalate risks that could impact game quality or player satisfaction.
- Work as part of a Scrum team, learning the responsibilities of a tester within ceremonies and contributing to the team’s delivery goals.
What we’re looking for:
- A solid understanding of video game structure and components such as UI, inventory systems, multiplayer, balancing, narrative, and so on.
- Basic knowledge of the video game development process, including the role QA plays within a development team.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to report findings clearly and work collaboratively in a team.
- Familiarity with PC operating systems and hardware, and a basic understanding of mobile platforms.
- Enthusiasm for learning new technologies, QA techniques, and games development.
- In-depth knowledge of Old School RuneScape is a strong advantage.
Interview Process:
The interview process will take approximately [number] weeks and will consist of three stages:
- Initial video interview
- 45-minute Microsoft Teams interview with the Hiring Manager
- 1-hour session meeting the team, discussing game testing fundamentals and Jagex values
