Role Overview
The Senior Management Accountant will play a key role in delivering accurate and insightful financial information to support strategic decision‑making across the business. Working closely with the Finance Manager and Finance Director, this role will be responsible for monthly management reporting, budgeting and forecasting, margin analysis, and supporting wider commercial and operational initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, ensuring all balance sheet reconciliations are completed.
- Support the Finance Manager with budgeting, reforecasting, and financial planning cycles.
- Provide detailed analysis of sales, gross margin, overheads, and profitability by product category, region, and store.
- Business partner with retail, merchandising, and operations teams to provide financial insights and drive performance improvements.
- Monitor and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs), highlighting trends and variances.
- Assist in the preparation of board reports and presentations for senior management.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
- Support the Finance Director with ad hoc analysis, strategic projects, and process improvement initiatives.
- Supervise junior finance team members where required, providing guidance and review of work.
Skills & Experience Required
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent).
- Proven experience in a management accounting or commercial finance role, ideally within retail, luxury goods, or consumer brands.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and analytical skills.
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills; experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP, NetSuite, or Dynamics) is advantageous.
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to communicate financial information clearly to non‑finance stakeholders.
- Commercially astute with a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
- Confident working in a fast‑paced, evolving environment with multiple priorities.
