Overview
Jaded London are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Assistant Merchandiser to join their growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to join a growing brand and department, with the opportunity to bring your own ideas and expertise to the role. Your focuses will be to bring strong trade analysis and suggestions to Jaded London, Jaded Swim and Jaded Unisex and manage actions on a daily, weekly and seasonal basis. Key responsibilities will also include forecasting sales, quantifying buys, reviewing size and making valuable contributions to planning, range building and strategy.
Responsibilities
- Updating Monday trade reports in a timely and accurate fashion, identifying key highlights and lowlights from the previous week and making suggestions to maximise sales and minimise stock risks. Independently drive analysis of ideas and areas of focus each week, presenting to Merchandiser and founders.
- Following up trade actions with key departments throughout the week (Ecommerce, Social, Logistics, Production, Design, Suppliers). Feed back results and provide suggestions for future strategies and processes.
- Monitor slow sellers and strong sellers; regularly suggest improvements to sales and risk mitigation by liaising with internal departments and presenting to the wider team. Make recommendations to cancel, phase and reduce buys to manage risk and review impacts to OTB.
- Maintain daily awareness of trading performance, especially around collection launches, and adapt day-to-day intake and stock management tasks. Instil reactiveness on new styles and campaign styles.
- Own repeats and continuity lines; accurately forecast linecards to ensure maximum availability and healthy cover on bestsellers.
- Make suggestions and recommendations on repeat opportunities and quantity amendments.
- Forecast size ratios for new styles based on performance and provide buy ratios for repeats. Complete regular sizing and returns analysis.
- Suggest price amendments for full price and markdown, presenting strong rationale with key considerations for cover, margin, seasonality and discount.
- Accurately update WSSI and category WSSI\’s; highlight opportunities and risks to sales, stock and intake. Deputise reforecasts in Merchandiser absence.
- Contribute to seasonal analysis and make suggestions for department strategies, regularly presenting findings and ideas in season.
- Demonstrate foresight and strong critical path management with awareness of company, internal departments and supplier deadlines. Understand weekly priorities and communicate with wider teams to reach shared goals, focusing on seasonal deadlines and key trading dates for short shelf life products and high-potential trading dates.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers; be aware of supply chain capacities and capabilities in respective countries, impact of freight methods on margin and lead time, and key calendar dates across the supply base.
- Review intake levels to manage expectations with warehouses and logistics teams. Report potential lateness risks and opportunities, especially around collection launches and bestsellers, and suggest when to amend freight methods. Work closely with warehouses on intake priorities.
- Collaborate with buying and design teams to make clear recommendations on risks and opportunities for new styles across assortment, product categories, move-ons, customer profile, core/flow lines, quantity, RRP, margin, competitors, trend, and supplier capacity.
- Position and trade pop-up shops and positioning; work with external partners, warehouse, and shop floor staff to maximise revenue.
- Build relationships with wholesale partners and internal wholesale team; understand partner trading climate and where performance can be boosted.
- Provide key insights and analysis on a continual basis as the brand evolves; support wider teams with actionable trade analysis and insights.
Qualifications
- Being an excellent communicator is essential to build strong relationships with key stakeholders across internal departments and external supply chain.
- Commercial awareness and a strong trading mindset.
- Proven track record of forecasting and SKU management as well as intake and stock management.
- Advanced level in Microsoft Excel.
- Passion for Jaded London and the fashion industry.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy of work.
- Good negotiation skills; able to work with suppliers to reach the best outcomes.
- Proactive and adaptable; able to bring about ideas and change to streamline processes and maximise efficiency.
