About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Brake Press / Roller Operator to join their established manufacturing team in Dorking. This is a fantastic opportunity to secure a permanent position within a successful engineering business, working with modern CNC equipment in a clean, safety-focused production environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for setting and operating CNC brake presses and powered rollers to manufacture high-quality stainless steel and mild steel components, ensuring production targets and quality standards are consistently achieved.

Working Hours

This is a 40-hour per week position working a rotating double-day shift pattern:

  • Week 1 (Early Shift): Monday to Friday, 5:45am – 1:45pm
  • Week 2 (Late Shift): Monday to Friday, 2:15pm – 10:15pm

A paid 30-minute break is included each day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC brake presses to manufacture components to specification.
  • Set up and operate CNC plate rollers.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and programme machinery accordingly.
  • Programme Bystronic laser machines when required.
  • Carry out self-inspection of completed parts to ensure they meet drawing and quality requirements.
  • Perform daily safety and machine checks before operation.
  • Work efficiently to meet production schedules and quality standards.
  • Report any quality, production or equipment issues to the Team Leader or Manager.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards and follow all health and safety procedures.
  • Work collaboratively within the manufacturing team to support production objectives.
  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience operating CNC brake presses.
  • Experience operating CNC plate rollers (desirable).
  • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience programming CNC machinery, including Bystronic equipment, is advantageous.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to work to production deadlines.
  • A proactive approach to health and safety.
  • A positive attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
