Jade Recruitment Ltd is currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing manufacturing organisation for an experienced Indirect Buyer to join their team based in Dorking. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded procurement professional looking to take ownership of indirect purchasing activities within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Operational Purchasing, you will be responsible for developing and managing a robust supplier base across a wide range of indirect categories, including consumables, maintenance parts, and services. You will play a key role in driving supplier consolidation, negotiating cost-effective agreements, and ensuring high service levels across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, negotiate, and manage supplier agreements across indirect spend categories
- Take ownership of indirect, consumable, and maintenance suppliers across multiple sites
- Build strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers
- Review and process purchasing requisitions (SAP/ERP and manual) daily
- Raise and manage purchase orders, including expediting and rescheduling
- Maintain accurate purchasing data within SAP/ERP
- Lead supplier consolidation and cost-reduction initiatives
- Resolve invoice queries, non-conformances, and returns efficiently
- Support supplier selection and continuous improvement activities
- Drive cost-saving opportunities, considering total cost, quality, and supply chain efficiency
About You
- Previous experience in a purchasing or procurement role (indirect buying preferred)
- A clear understanding of supply chain is essential
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills with the ability to understand technical specifications
- Good understanding of total cost of ownership (TCO)
- Confident communicator, able to engage with stakeholders at all levels
- Highly organised with strong administrative skills, capable of working on multiple projects
- Experience using SAP or similar ERP systems is desirable
- Strong Microsoft Office and Excel experience
- Graduate or purchasing professional with an engineering background desirable
- A good team player, able to communicate effectively with various departments
- Willingness to travel in the UK & internationally when needed
