A beautiful and much-loved country pub in the Surrey Hills near Reigate has recently launched a new kitchen and is now seeking a passionate and ambitious Sous Chef to join the opening team. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong Chef de Partie looking to step up or an experienced Sous Chef who wants to be part of building something special from the ground up. Working closely with a supportive and experienced Head Chef, you will play a key role in shaping the culture, systems, and standards of a kitchen with the ambition to become one of the best food pubs in Surrey. The kitchen focuses on seasonal, ingredient-led British cooking, with an emphasis on quality produce, consistency, and genuine hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen
- Help deliver high-quality seasonal British dishes using fresh ingredients
- Maintain high standards of food quality, hygiene, and kitchen organisation
- Assist with training and supporting junior chefs
- Help establish systems, standards, and a positive kitchen culture
- Take responsibility for running services independently when required
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience as a Chef de Partie ready to step up or a Sous Chef in a similar venue
- Ideally catering college trained
- Experience in well-regarded restaurants, gastro pubs, or quality venues in Surrey, Sussex, or London (or similar environments)
- Passion for seasonal British cooking and quality ingredients
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Ambitious, motivated, and eager to develop
