A fast-growing B2B payments and fintech business is seeking an experienced Head of Compliance to lead its UK compliance function and play a key role in strengthening the firm's regulatory framework as it continues to grow.
Reporting to senior leadership, you will act as a trusted regulatory adviser to the business, providing clear, practical guidance and ensuring the organisation maintains robust compliance standards across its products, operations and strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the UK Compliance function and establish a strong culture of regulatory compliance.
- Own and enhance the firm's regulatory compliance framework, policies, procedures and monitoring programme.
- Provide day-to-day regulatory advice to senior management and business stakeholders.
- Interpret and implement FCA rules, regulatory guidance and legislative developments relevant to the business.
- Maintain oversight of regulatory obligations and ensure appropriate governance, documentation and evidence of compliance.
- Lead regulatory change programmes, assessing the impact of new requirements and coordinating implementation.
- Advise on new products, markets, partnerships and business initiatives from a regulatory compliance perspective.
- Maintain effective relationships with the FCA and other relevant regulatory stakeholders.
- Lead compliance reviews, thematic assessments and remediation programmes.
- Prepare regulatory reporting and management information for senior leadership and governance committees.
- Provide effective challenge to the business and elevate regulatory risks where appropriate.
- Work closely with Legal, Risk, Operations, Product and senior management to embed regulatory requirements into business processes.
Requirements
- 8+ years' compliance experience, ideally within payments, fintech, electronic money, banking or financial services.
- Strong knowledge of the UK regulatory environment, particularly FCA-regulated businesses.
- Detailed understanding of FCA Principles, SYSC, the Payment Services Regulations and relevant FCA guidance.
- Proven experience interpreting regulatory requirements and translating them into practical policies, controls and procedures.
- Experience managing regulatory change and responding to evolving regulatory expectations.
- Demonstrable experience engaging with regulators, auditors and senior stakeholders.
- Strong ability to challenge constructively and provide clear, commercially pragmatic regulatory advice.
- Experience building or developing a compliance function within a growing organisation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to operate at senior-management level.
