Central Compliance - Director

A leading global capital markets firm is seeking an experienced Central Compliance Director to join their London-based compliance function. This is a key leadership role, sitting within the central compliance team, and offers the opportunity to shape and strengthen the firm's compliance framework across key regulatory domains.

As Central Compliance Director, you will act as the subject matter expert (SME) on the Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SMCR), ensuring robust governance and clear accountability across the UK-regulated entities. You will also be responsible for designing and maintaining policies and procedures around Conflicts of Interest, Personal Account Dealing (PAD), and Compliance Training & Awareness across the business.

Working closely with senior stakeholders in Legal, Compliance Advisory, and Risk, you will oversee the execution of central compliance programmes, contribute to regulatory reporting, and drive continuous improvement in control frameworks. You will also provide leadership during regulatory reviews and internal audits.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the firm’s SMCR framework, including responsibilities mapping, conduct rules training, and regulatory attestations
• Oversee PAD, Conflicts of Interest, and Gifts & Entertainment processes
• Deliver the annual compliance training programme and maintain global standards
• Act as a senior point of contact for central compliance matters internally and with regulators
• Collaborate across business lines to ensure consistent application of policy and control

Candidate Profile:

• Proven experience in a similar compliance leadership role within investment banking or capital markets
• Deep technical knowledge of SMCR and broader FCA/PRA regulatory frameworks
• Strong understanding of central compliance disciplines
• Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management
