Our client is a leading live events and production services organisation seeking an experienced Head of Video to lead the delivery of video solutions across a diverse portfolio of corporate, entertainment, exhibition, and live event projects. The successful candidate will be the technical authority for all video-related systems and technologies, providing leadership across project design, system implementation, on-site delivery, equipment strategy, and team development. This is a senior position requiring strong technical expertise, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage complex event productions from concept through to execution. The role will work closely with project management, operations, warehouse, and technical teams to ensure projects are delivered to the highest standards while maintaining efficiency, safety, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership & Project Delivery
- Lead the design and implementation of video solutions for live events and productions.
- Provide technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle, from initial planning through to final delivery.
- Develop system designs, technical specifications, equipment schedules, and labour plans.
- Support project teams with technical recommendations and best practice guidance.
- Ensure all video systems are delivered to a high operational and production standard.
- Act as the escalation point for complex technical issues and troubleshooting requirements.
- Event Operations
- Oversee the installation, commissioning, operation, and de-rig of video systems.
- Manage video teams on-site, ensuring efficient and safe delivery of projects.
- Maintain high standards of technical quality, presentation, and client service.
- Work collaboratively with other technical disciplines including audio, lighting, staging, and rigging.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and operational procedures.
- Equipment & Technology
- Support the ongoing management and maintenance of video equipment assets.
- Evaluate new technologies and make recommendations regarding future investment.
- Work closely with operations and warehouse teams to maximise utilisation of company equipment.
- Assist with supplier relationships and external equipment procurement when required.
- Commercial & Strategic Support
- Contribute to project budgeting and resource planning.
- Support efforts to maximise project profitability through efficient use of labour and equipment.
- Assist with technical input for proposals, tenders, and client presentations.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational processes and service delivery.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Mentor and support the development of technicians and technical specialists.
- Promote a positive and collaborative team culture.
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance development activities.
- Share technical knowledge and encourage continuous learning within the department.
Requirements
- Significant experience in professional video production, live events, or integrated AV environments.
- Advanced knowledge of video switching, image processing, LED display technology, projection systems, media servers, and video networking.
- Experience leading technical teams and managing complex projects.
- Strong organisational and project management skills.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of project budgets.
- Willingness to travel as required.
