We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Flight Case Builder to join our clients team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, constructing, and assembling custom flight cases to safely transport and store audio visual (AV) equipment. This role is hands-on and requires experience with carpentry, fabrication, and a solid understanding of protective casing for sensitive technical equipment.
Salary: Up to £32,000
Key Responsibilities:
- Measure, design, and construct custom flight cases for AV equipment including projectors, lighting, sound systems, LED panels, and accessories.
- Work from specifications, equipment dimensions, or technical drawings to create accurate and secure case layouts.
- Use tools and machinery such as saws, drills, rivet guns, foam cutters, and CNC routers (if applicable).
- Cut, shape, and fit foam inserts to securely hold AV equipment in place.
- Install hardware such as latches, handles, hinges, casters, and corner guards.
- Perform quality control checks to ensure durability, functionality, and accurate fit.
- Collaborate with AV technicians and logistics staff to understand equipment handling requirements.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment and follow all health and safety regulations.
- Manage time efficiently to meet production deadlines.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in flight case construction, carpentry, or fabrication (minimum 1-2 years preferred).
- Familiarity with AV equipment and understanding of how it needs to be transported and protected.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and measurements.
- Experience using woodworking tools and workshop machinery safely.
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or in a team.
