Overview
Jacobs – Birmingham, United Kingdom. Join Jacobs as a Wastewater Modeller in the UK and Ireland water sector, contributing to major water programmes from feasibility through design, construction and long-term operations. Your modelling insights will influence smarter, more sustainable solutions that protect the environment and improve communities.
At Jacobs, you’ll be part of a collaborative team working with the region’s largest water companies. You’ll support or lead model build and verification, interpret model results, and help develop hydraulic solutions for drainage and flood risk issues.
Responsibilities
- Support the technical delivery and Project Manager to ensure robust, well-defined technical solutions and successful project outcomes
- Work with network hydraulic modelling (InfoWorks ICM) and build/verify models; assess system performance
- Optioneering and development of flooding and combined sewer overflow (CSO) solutions
- Interact directly with client personnel, including face-to-face progress meetings
- Investigate, analyse and resolve drainage network issues
- Scope network surveys to supplement model updates; review and manage weekly contractor survey submissions
- Build and maintain hydraulic models; deliver technical reports and hydraulic modelling studies
- Develop modelled engineering solutions to mitigate development impacts, address sewer flooding and unsatisfactory overflows
- Assist with cost estimates for modelling; supervise site surveys and field investigations
- Plan, programme, coordinate and write reports for specific projects
- Provide guidance and support to graduate engineers or technicians
What you’ll need
- Proficiency in wastewater modelling software such as InfoAsset Manager and InfoWorks ICM
- Working knowledge of GIS tools (MapInfo, ArcGIS)
- Ability to work to client specifications and industry standards
- Demonstrable track record of technical achievement and client satisfaction within the water industry
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal staff and external clients
- Flexible, able to multi-task and prioritise when necessary
