About The Opportunity

We are one of the largest transport modelling teams in the UK and Europe and offer unparalleled diversity of projects and exposure to different types of clients in the UK and internationally. Such depth offers opportunities for a range of career paths whether it is technical excellence, technical leadership or management roles. We are a friendly team with a number of modelling excellence centres in the UK, Poland and India. We operate without divisions as One Jacobs, with management practices and systems designed to take down regional barriers and encourage cross-office working.

Our Transport Team has developed a strong data-driven transport practice, working with clients including Heathrow Airport, National Transport Authority Ireland, Transport for London, and Department for Transport. We work with large, complex datasets (often billion+ records) including GPS tracking data and Mobile Network Data to analyze vehicle and people movement patterns across highway and sustainable transport modes.

Key work areas include:

  • Trend analysis, clustering, data fusion, and engineering
  • Advanced transport model inputs
  • Predictive modeling using Machine Learning
  • Predictive Discrete choice modeling

Here’s what you’ll need:

We’re seeking an experienced Transport Data Scientist for challenging, high-profile transport projects. The role offers significant growth opportunities and independence, typically reporting to senior technical leads while working closely with our Global Principals for Big Data and Strategic Modelling.

We are looking for candidates with experience in one of the below:

  • Transport Data science and engineering
  • Big data applications in transport modeling
  • Machine Learning and statistical techniques
  • Discrete choice model estimation

We are looking for the following experience:

  • Numerate degree (Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Programming, Data Science) or equivalent quantitative background
  • Proficiency in Python or R for large-scale data analysis
  • Experience with trend analysis, data fusion, and insight generation from big datasets
  • Skills in machine learning and advanced econometrics
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
  • Strong communication skills for complex technical problems
