We are excited to be looking for a Bridges & Structures Civil Engineering apprentice to join our Hertfordshire office. You will work towards achieving a UK Level 6 qualification at London South Bank University.

As a Bridges & Structures apprentice, you will be involved in the full project lifecycle, from initial options analysis through outline and detailed design, to potential on-site support during the construction phase. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with and planning bridge inspections
  • Producing technical drawings using AutoCAD
  • Performing engineering calculations that progress in complexity as your knowledge develops through your studies
  • Collaborating with various internal disciplines, as well as external stakeholders, clients, and contractors
  • Learning primarily through work shadowing and mentorship from experienced colleagues
  • Engaging in a varied mix of office work and site duties

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 120 UCAS tariff points including grade B in A-level Mathematics or equivalent
  • A keen interest in bridge engineering
  • Strong communication and teamworking skills
  • A flexible and proactive self-starter who’s passionate about developing new skills
  • The ability to adapt and prioritise whilst juggling work and study priorities
  • Enthusiasm and curiosity to apply your skills to solve real-world problems
  • Empathy and listening skills to help you truly understand our clients’ requirements
