Your impact
Cyber threats are constantly evolving, making effective security operations critical to organisations across every sector. As a SOC Analyst, you'll help protect Jacobs clients by identifying, investigating, and responding to security threats before they can impact systems, users, or data. Working as part of an experienced, collaborative Cyber Security team, you'll gain exposure to modern security technologies and play an important role in helping to strengthen cyber resilience across a diverse range of environments.
What You'll Do
As part of our Security Operations Centre (SOC) team, you'll monitor and investigate security alerts, support incident response activities, and help identify emerging threats across internal and client environments. Using technologies such as Microsoft Sentinel and Defender XDR, you'll analyse security events, investigate suspicious activity, support threat hunting exercises, and work closely with experienced colleagues to improve security monitoring and response capabilities. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your technical expertise while gaining hands-on experience across a broad cyber security landscape.
Here's what you'll need
We're looking for someone with a passion for cyber security and some practical exposure to SOC activities. You may have gained this experience through an apprenticeship, graduate programme, placement year, internship, or an early-career cyber security role. Most importantly, you'll have experience of working with a SIEM platform and an understanding of how security alerts are monitored, investigated, and prioritised. You also bring:
- Knowledge of cyber security threats and attack techniques
- Understanding of identity and access management concepts such as MFA and RBAC
- Good understanding of wider IT infrastructure and connectivity
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Eligibility to obtain UKSV SC security clearance
- Experience with Microsoft Sentinel or Defender XDR would be advantageous but is not essential.
