About the Opportunity
Nuclear Power Programmes is one of the newest Business Units and has been formed with the vision to support positive change and help shape the future of Nuclear Power.
Operational throughout the UK and across continental Europe, we are seeking to expand our team on a variety of nuclear projects, which range in technologies and that find themselves at different stages of their development. To do this, we are seeking to continuously employ talented individuals to join our diverse team that are excited about nuclear projects and are committed to Net Zero, and Energy Security.
In both client facing and internal roles we are delivering major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. We are driving to deliver safe, high quality and to time solutions by thinking innovatively and working collaboratively.
Working on SZC you will develop the skills and core nuclear understanding to be successful in the New Nuclear industry. You’ll be positioned to benefit from the near and long-term trend for Nuclear power providing the baseload to global energy needs. As a new Business Unit, you’ll be joining at a time of innovation and change, with opportunity to put your mark on the business and for this contribution to be recognised.
The purpose of the Senior Risk Manager role is to provide leadership to risk management within a local SZC programme/ similar, compliance with SZC’s PMO risk management direction, and genuinely helps safeguard the programme area from major overruns:
- Leadership capabilities, motivational skills, delegation, team management and team membership, as well as strong collaboration and peer-to-peer relationship-building skills. Role will involve leading small approx. 5-person team.
- Facilitation skills; able to independently facilitate complex/ important workshops for all levels within programme.
- Technical skills; able to independently deliver large/ complex QRAs, spanning Cost QRAs, Schedule QRAs, and Integrated QRAs.
- Linked capability to integrate/ support breadth of project controls/ project delivery/ business support processes (e.g. Finance).
- Engagement skills; able to independently engage teams of Range of project and corporate professionals.
- Demonstrable use of numerical and verbal communication skills within a business environment.
- Membership of one or more risk or project management organisation e.g. APM, PMI, IRM, CERA or a suitable equivalent.
- Understanding of scheduling methodologies in project/programme management, including hands on experience of the leading software packages (Oracle P6/Microsoft Project or similar planning tools).
- Being comfortable with quantitative analysis and advanced forecasting i.e. Monte-Carlo methods, probabilistic forecasting, and optimisation.
- Experience of developing large data models (QSRA/QCRA etc) and their integration into decision making processes.
- Understanding of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) frameworks and standards.
