At Jacobs, we are challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world’s most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good. Jacobs’ Cities & Places team is dedicated to shaping the future of the built environment, delivering projects that range from complex buildings and innovative sustainable infrastructure to community focused regeneration and high performance design. As our portfolio grows, we’re looking for an experienced Project Manager to join us in our offices in Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds, someone with a strong background in buildings or Design & Build project management who is ready to lead major, high impact projects.
In this role, you’ll take responsibility for the successful delivery of technical consultancy services for both public and private sector clients. You’ll oversee multidisciplinary project teams, work closely with clients, designers, engineers, and contractors, and ensure that each project is delivered to the highest standards of quality, time, and cost. A significant part of your role will involve managing contracts such as JCT and NEC3/4 and reporting on commercial performance through tools including Earned Value and MS Project. You’ll be expected to navigate differing client and contractor priorities, help define what success looks like for each project, and offer clear, practical technical solutions whenever challenges arise. You will be influencing projects across their full lifecycle—not only by managing delivery but by shaping direction, encouraging innovative thinking, and supporting the development of high performing teams. You’ll play a key role in mentoring colleagues, promoting collaboration, and helping to create an environment where technical excellence and creative problem solving thrive.
To be successful, you’ll bring solid experience in buildings related project management, ideally gained in design & build, consultancy, client side delivery, or multidisciplinary project settings. NEC 3/ NEC 4 contract experience is also desirable. Membership of the Association for Project Management (or an equivalent body) is desirable, and you’ll need a strong grounding in project management principles, including planning, monitoring, and controlling delivery for both your own workload and that of your team. Excellent communication skills are important, as is the ability to clearly report on commercial status and project progress. An understanding of team motivation, risk management, and governance will help you thrive, along with competence in MS Office, MS Project, Earned Value systems, and other reporting tools.
At Jacobs, you’ll find more than just a job. You’ll discover:
- A global network of expertise and opportunity
- A culture founded on safety, integrity, inclusion, and belonging
- Flexible working arrangements that support your well-being and potential
- Opportunities to make a real-world impact through our global giving and volunteering programs
- Up to 10% pension
- 24 days (+10 days bought) holidays
- Free medical and income protection insurance and many more!
