The business unit brings together engineers, architects, surveyors, designers, place-makers, technology experts and project managers to provide collaborative design solutions for clients domestically and internationally.
We have an immediate need for a Principal to undertake business development and project delivery activities for our ICT and Security team. The role reports to the Director of ICT and Security and supports buildings and infrastructure, including in the Defence, Transportation and Critical National Infrastructure sectors.
In business development, you’ll work with our Buildings, Infrastructure and Defence teams to offer services to clients in those sectors and build relationships with clients directly. In delivery, you’ll oversee and produce designs for secure ICT systems and advise on system security to support the overall buildings and infrastructure design process, coordinating with other disciplines on the overall security solution. You will manage client-facing work and support multi-disciplinary project teams, demonstrating leadership, professionalism and an inquisitive approach with a balance between innovation and commercial considerations.
Opportunities are available with a hybrid working pattern in London, Manchester, Birmingham and Bristol. Due to the secure nature and specific requirements of many of our clients and projects, candidates will preferably be a UK National and hold current UKSV accredited security clearance.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Buildings, Infrastructure and Defence teams to offer services to clients in ICT for buildings and related sectors
- Develop and maintain client relationships and pursue new business opportunities
- Oversee and produce designs for secure ICT systems and advise on system security within the overall project design
- Coordinate with multiple disciplines to deliver integrated security solutions for facilities
- Manage client-facing work and support multi-disciplinary project teams
- Demonstrate leadership, professionalism and an inquisitive approach while balancing commercial considerations
Qualifications and Experience
Essential Experience:
- Substantial experience in ICT for buildings with a strong understanding of integrating these systems into a cohesive building design
- A UK National with valid current Security Clearance; or recently held clearance and willing to re-apply
- Experience in both business development and project delivery
- Familiarity with UK, US and international standards for security and ICT system design, including Defence and CNI sectors, and with relevant system suppliers
- Well connected within the UK Defence and CNI sectors and with clients and stakeholders
- Expert in communications and relationship building
- Experience in writing reports and specifications, and reading and understanding project briefs
- Experience in working with multiple disciplinary design teams and partners
- Experience in delivering both technical and commercial elements of proposals
- Experience designing systems such as: Data Communications and Networking Systems, Secure and non-secure communications systems and installations, Telecommunications Systems, Radio Systems, Network (wired and wireless) and Infrastructure, Structured cabling and outside plant, Video Surveillance and CCTV Systems, Personnel and Vehicle Access Control Systems, Intruder Detection Systems, Intercom Systems, Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems, Coordinated security solutions for assets and facilities, including locking systems, physical security installations (fences, gates, barriers, HVM), security lighting, and Security Management Systems
Additional Skills, Qualifications and Personal Characteristics:
- MCIBSE, IET accreditation or similar, or demonstrable equivalent experience
- Technical training and registered membership as a Security Professional
- Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline
- Good communication skills
- Project Management experience
- Curiosity and an enquiring approach with a balance of innovation and commercial needs
