Jacobs’ UK Ecology Team is looking for an experienced Ecologist to join our growing team in Peterborough. We work on challenging infrastructure projects across the UK, including water, rail, energy and highway schemes.
Responsibilities
- Deliver technical insight and high‑quality delivery on the most complex and innovative infrastructure projects.
- Balance desk and site‑based tasks, using experience in protected species survey, Ecological Clerk of Works, Environmental Impact Assessment, Habitats Regulations Assessment and/or Biodiversity Net Gain.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure terrestrial ecology requirements are recognised and constraints acted upon.
- Design and lead ecological monitoring programmes, develop survey programmes and manage survey teams.
- Act as the first point of contact for expert advice to clients and stakeholders.
- Mentor and develop team members, sharing skills through global communities of practice, conferences, client meetings and training events.
- Pursue career pathways in technical expertise or line management, with progression supported in both routes.
Qualifications
- Background in terrestrial ecology with significant industry experience.
- Full membership of a professional body (or experience to obtain full membership).
- Experience running ecological inputs on medium‑large scale projects.
- Outstanding written and verbal skills with strong attention to detail.
- High level of personal responsibility.
Ideal Additional Experience
- Current and full driving licence.
- A technical specialism in terrestrial ecology, or broad experience with ability to pick up other ecological interests quickly.
