We are excited to be looking for a Civil Engineering Apprentice to join our Rivers team in the Peterborough office. You will work towards achieving a Level 6 qualification at Anglia Ruskin University.

Our Water and Environment Business Unit provides a focus for advising our clients on River Engineering and Flood Risk Management solutions including:
- Flood defence structures
- Weirs, gates, sluices
- Flood storage reservoirs
- Natural flood management
- Habitat creation
- Hydrometric gauging facilities
- Fish passes
We are seeking Apprentice Civil Engineers who are looking to begin their careers in a world-class leading company with excellent career prospects. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will provide innovative and sustainable solutions for clients such as Water Companies, the Environment Agency, and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA).
As an apprentice, your workload will be varied, and you could be:
- Designing a Sustainable Drainage System for a new development
- Assessing and designing options for managing flood risk and adapting to climate change
- Assessing the safety of infrastructure on rivers
- Designing and supervising the construction and operation of nationally important flood defence assets
- Contributing to the determination of budgets for the next five years of investment in the water industry
Here’s what you’ll need:
- A minimum of 120 UCAS tariff points or equivalent
- An interest in developing a career in civil engineering and water catchment management
- Able to communicate clearly, and willing to develop your writing and speaking skills
- A flexible and proactive self-starter who’s passionate about developing new skills
- The ability to adapt and prioritise whilst juggling work and study priorities
- Enthusiasm and curiosity to apply your skills to solve real-world problems
- Empathy and listening skills to help you truly understand our clients’ requirements
- A well-rounded person with interesting stories and experiences
